Oil on Canvas
This self-portrait examines themes of intimacy, identity, and the complexities of an unhealthy relationship with sex. The kiss marks scattered across the figure’s skin reflect the tension between desire and self-worth, conveying the emotional weight of navigating vulnerability and societal expectations.
Surreal elements, such as glowing birds and ethereal stars, create a dreamlike atmosphere that contrasts with the rawness of the kiss marks. This interplay highlights the conflict between romanticized ideals and personal struggles. The saturated color palette and dynamic lighting immerse the viewer in the emotional narrative, while the meticulous detailing underscores my commitment to both technical and conceptual depth.
This work exemplifies my interdisciplinary approach, blending realism and surrealism to confront deeply personal and universally resonant themes.
